TOPIK measures the Korean proficiency of non-native speakers in South Korea. Introduced in 1997, it is offered six times a year to non-Korean speakers and international students.
Since 2011, it is administered by the National Institute for International Education [ko] (국립국제교육원, NIIED).

For those wanting to work or study in Korea it is the ideal qualification and in many instances a basic requirement.

TOPIK aims to create a Korean Language learning path for non-native speakers and to promote the language by evaluating proficiency. TOPIK results are valid for two years. Administrator: National Institute for International Education (NIIED), Ministry of Education. Test results can be used for: Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP), entrance into Korean Universities, employment, Korean Language Instructor certification, obtaining permanent residency, or for the Korea Immigration and Integration Program.
